SL vs IND Series: The first match of the three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka will start on July 27 (Saturday) at Pallakala. Today's first T20 match will be played from 7.30 pm Indian time. Sri Lanka will make many records in a single series! Interestingly, both the teams will be led by new captains. Not only this, the coaches of both the teams are also new. India's two-time World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir will start his career as the head coach, while Suryakumar Yadav will start his new innings as captain in this short format.

This T20 series is very important for the Indian team. With Rahul Dravid as the head coach, the Indian men's team reached the finals of the World Test Championship 2021-23, Cricket World Cup 2023 and finished runners-up, while also winning the T20 World Cup 2024. The responsibility of taking the team from world champion level to the best team in the world in every format rests on the shoulders of the new head coach Gambhir.

However, on the other hand, the Sri Lankan team is also going through a phase of change and is eager to face India. Apparently, five new things will be seen in this T20 series between India and Sri Lanka.

New captains in both teams:

With the victory of T20 World Cup 2024, two veterans of India, Rohit and Kohli, have said goodbye to this format. India's T20 captain Rohit Sharma has retired from T20 International. Therefore, Suryakumar Yadav has been made the captain of the Indian team for the T20 series against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, the Sri Lankan team has appointed all-rounder Charith Asalanka as the captain for the T20 series. All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga left the captaincy of Sri Lanka's T20 team due to poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.

New coaches in both teams:

With the end of the T20 World Cup 2024, Rahul Dravid's tenure has also ended. After Dravid, Gautam Gambhir has become the head coach of the Indian team and this is his first Test. On the other hand, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) has appointed former opener Sanath Jayasuriya as the interim coach of its team. Jayasuriya will hold this position till Sri Lanka's tour of England in August-September.

With the victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma bid farewell to the shortest format of cricket. Both these great players will continue to represent India in ODI and Test cricket. The Indian team has reached Sri Lanka for the first time after Kohli-Rohit's retirement from T20 International.

3 T20 matches on the same ground

This is the first time on the Sri Lanka tour that the Indian team will play all the matches of the T20 series at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Earlier, a T20 match was played between India and Sri Lanka on this ground on 7 August 2012. In which the Indian team won by 39 runs.
