New Delhi, September 03 (HS). Monica Shergill, Country Content Vice-President of OTT platform Netflix India, said on Tuesday that the initial disclaimer of the 'IC-814 Kandahar Hijack' web series has been updated. In this, Netflix India has included the real and code names of the terrorist hijackers in the web series.
It is noteworthy that this web series is being criticized a lot on social media. Users claim that the makers of the web series have deliberately changed the names of the hijackers to 'Bhola' and 'Shankar'. The new web series on Netflix is based on the events of the hijacking of Air India plane IC-814 in 1999. The web series is directed by Anubhav Sinha.
Monika Shergill, Vice-President Content, Netflix India, said in an official statement, “The initial disclaimer has been updated to include the real and code names of the hijackers for the benefit of viewers unfamiliar with the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814 in 1999.”
Monica Shergill, head of OTT platform Netflix India, today met the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at Shastri Bhawan.
Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar had given a statement on this issue yesterday. He said that he was constantly monitoring the incident. It is clear that the people involved in the kidnapping were Pakistan-backed terrorists. In such a situation, where did the Hindu names of the kidnappers come from? He is happy that the I&B Ministry has taken cognizance of the matter.
