Kathmandu, September 21 (HS). In the meeting of women foreign ministers from across the world going on in Canada, when the representatives of western countries said that Asian countries should learn from us about the rights and respect of women, then the foreign minister of Nepal, sitting on the stage, criticized the foreign ministers of western countries.

The Canadian Foreign Minister has organized a conference in Toronto on Friday and Saturday, in which a two-day conference of all the foreign ministers of the countries around the world where the work of the Foreign Ministry is done by a woman was organized. The main objective of this conference was to increase the participation of women in world politics and to discuss about giving them a respectable place.

Women foreign ministers from western countries said that whether it is a matter of women's participation in politics or giving them a respectable place in politics, the situation in Europe, America, Canada, Australia is much better than other Asian countries. Asian countries should learn from that. Nepal's foreign minister Dr. Arju Rana not only refuted such statements made by western countries, but also responded to the foreign ministers of European and other western countries giving advice on a public platform.

Addressing the closing session of the conference on Saturday, Dr Rana said that she represents a small Himalayan country and she is proud that in her culture, women have been given the status of God. She recited the Sanskrit verse Yatra Naaryastu Pujyante Ramante Tatra Devata and said that the western thinking has not yet reached where our ancestors had thought ages ago.

In the conference, Nepal's Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana gave the example of countries like India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Pakistan and said that in all these countries women have successfully taken over the reins of power. She also said that in the big countries that have taught the whole world about women's rights, no woman has been able to reach the top position of power till date. Taking the names of countries like America, China, Russia, Canada etc., she said that these countries should first look into their own affairs.

Nepal's Foreign Minister said that it is true that even in Nepal, women have not yet reached a top executive position, but they have reached important positions like President, Speaker and Chief Justice. Dr. Rana said that it is also true that women have to face many challenges in entering politics, but this problem is not only in Asian countries but also in America, China, Russia and Canada.

Nepal's foreign minister said that women in western countries either take care of their family, or are involved in politics or have a second career. Once they take care of one, they are unable to handle the other. But Asian women, especially those living between the Himalayas and the Indian Ocean, manage their married life, take care of their family and children, manage their professional life well, build their career and when they get a chance, they manage all these and also rule the country very well.
