Kathmandu, July 17 (HS). Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will present a motion of confidence in the lower house of Parliament, the House of Representatives, on Sunday. Nepal's constitution has a provision to obtain a vote of confidence within 30 days of taking oath as Prime Minister.
In a letter sent by the Prime Minister's Secretariat to the Parliament Secretariat, information has been given about presenting the motion of no-confidence on Sunday (July 21). CPN (UML) Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula said that verbal information was given to the Parliament Secretariat on Tuesday itself. A written letter has also been sent on Wednesday.
CPN (UML) President KP Sharma Oli, who became Prime Minister with the support of Nepali Congress, has the support of two-thirds of the MPs. For a majority in the 275-member House of Representatives, the support of 138 MPs is required. There are 78 members of CPN (UML) and 89 members of Nepali Congress in the House of Representatives.
Besides the Nepali Congress, those supporting Oli include 14 MPs from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, 12 from the Janata Samajwadi Party, 6 from the Janmat Party, 4 from the Democratic Samajwadi Party and 4 from the Civil Unmakti Party.
