Nepal government's chair in danger, Oli-Congress demands resignation – News India Live

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda's chair is once again in danger. Coalition partners have withdrawn support from the Vishal government. An agreement was signed between Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Dauba and Communist Party Marxist-Leninist President KP Sharma Oli. However, the parties of the coalition government in power withdrew support from the coalition. However, Prachanda has decided not to resign from the post of Prime Minister. Nepali Congress President Deuba has asked Prime Minister Prachanda to resign. He has asked him to resign so that a new government can be formed.

Deuba and P Sharma Oli signed a power-sharing agreement to form a new government. They have agreed to share the prime ministership on a rotating basis for the remaining term of parliament. The agreement between Deuba and Oli to form a new coalition and share the prime ministership on a rotating basis was also supported.

CPN-UML withdraws support

The CPN-UML formidable cabinet has eight ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister and Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Raghubir Mahaseth. The CPN-UML joined the government on March 5 after Prime Minister Prachanda formed an alliance with the CPN-UML, ending its years-long partnership with the Congress. Rijal said all UML ministers have submitted their resignations to the prime minister.

In the meeting held on Wednesday, the agenda and model for the formation of the new coalition government was mainly discussed. Under the agreement, in the first phase, Oli will take over as the Prime Minister and after one and a half years, the Nepali Congress will get the leadership of the government. Meanwhile, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal spokesperson Manish Suman said that his party will support the new coalition, but has not yet decided to join the government. JSP has five members in the Parliament of Nepal. The Rashtriya Prajatantra Party with 14 members in the House of Representatives and the Democratic Samajwadi Party with four seats have also indicated their support to the new coalition.

Prachanda Dhar refused to resign

Embattled Prime Minister Prachanda has flatly refused to resign and said he would prefer to face a confidence vote in Parliament. The prime minister has to seek a confidence vote within 30 days after the ruling coalition withdraws support. This will be the fifth time the 69-year-old will seek a confidence vote in the span of his mammoth tenure of one and a half years.

The Nepali Congress has 89 members in Nepal's 275-member House of Representatives, while CPN-UML members have 78 seats. Their majority strength is 167 out of the 138 seats in the lower house. Prachanda's party has 32 seats.
