Kathmandu, 28 September (HS). Due to continuous rains in all parts of Nepal for more than 24 hours, the impact of floods and landslides is being seen across the country. There is no district in the country where people's lives have not been affected by floods or landslides.
The rain which started in all parts of Nepal from Thursday midnight, continues till Saturday. The Meteorological Department says that this rain is expected to reduce from Sunday evening. Due to continuous rains, all the rivers are full and the low lying areas are completely in the grip of floods.
According to the information given by Kathmandu District Administration, areas like Balkhu, Thapathali, Kuleshwar, Koteshwar, Shankhamul, Chayasal etc. are flood affected. Flood water has entered thousands of houses in these areas. The bridge over the Bagmati river connecting Kathmandu and Lalitpur has also been washed away.
According to the information released by the Home Ministry, 4 people are reported to have been washed away in the flood waters of Nakkhu river in Kathmandu. Similarly, in Dhankuta district, 5 people have died while 4 people are missing after the landslide. Similarly, in Panchthar district, 6 people have died due to floods while 5 people are trapped in landslides.
Thousands of people from flood-hit Morang district have been displaced. According to the information given by Morang District Administration Office, 194 families have been displaced in Viratnagar, Katharia, Rangeli, Shanishchare.
According to the Home Ministry, 5 people died in Kabre district while 2 people are reported missing due to landslides.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the pressure of water vapor air in the Bay of Bengal, there is continuous rain in the area from Far West to Far East of Nepal. The department has issued information and appealed to everyone to remain alert and safe due to rain till Sunday. The government has stopped night bus services on the highway.
