Neither the constitution nor democracy is in danger in India, 77 percent people are satisfied with the democratic system – News India Live

The latest report of the American think tank Pew Research Center is a slap on the face of those countries that have set out to teach India the lessons of democracy. Pew Research Center conducted a survey of 31 powerful countries of the world to find out whether the people there are satisfied with democracy or not. India stood second in this survey.

77 percent Indians said that they are satisfied with the democratic system of the country. It is worth noting that the condition of countries like America, Britain and Australia is bad, which are raising questions on India's democracy every day. 68 percent Americans, 60 percent Britons and 39 percent Australians are not happy with democracy. Similarly, 52 percent people of Canada are satisfied with democracy while 46 percent are dissatisfied. Only half the population of the North American country Mexico is happy with its democracy. The worst condition is of South American countries. In Peru only 11 percent people are happy with democracy, while 89 percent are unhappy. In Colombia 21 percent people are satisfied and 77 percent people are dissatisfied. In Chile 30 percent are satisfied and 66 percent are dissatisfied. In Brazil and Argentina 54 percent people are satisfied with democracy.

What is the situation in India?

As far as Asia is concerned, Singapore has the highest percentage of people satisfied with democracy at 80 per cent while 19 per cent are dissatisfied. In India, 77 per cent people are happy with democracy and 20 per cent are unhappy. 64 per cent in Thailand, 57 per cent in the Philippines and 51 per cent in Malaysia are satisfied with democracy. In Asia, Sri Lanka, South Korea and Japan have the worst performance. 58 per cent in Sri Lanka, 63 per cent in South Korea and 67 per cent in Japan are unhappy with democracy.

People's displeasure increased after Corona:

In most high-income countries, the situation worsened after Corona. In Britain, before Corona, 60 percent of people were satisfied with democracy, which has now come down to 39 percent. In 2021, 66 percent of Canadians were happy, now 52 percent. In Germany, the proportion of satisfied people has fallen from 66 percent to 55 percent.
