Neither red nor blue, even daily commuters do not know what the different coloured coaches of the train mean | News India

Indian Railways is one of the 4 largest rail networks in the world. Every day thousands of trains transport millions of people to their destination. But even among so many passengers, very few people would know why trains in India have different colors. Long distance trains in India mainly run in 3 colors. These colors are red, blue and green.

Today we will tell you why the coaches of different trains are of different colors. The color of these trains is mainly decided on the basis of the design and features of the coach. Let us know about them in detail one by one.

Red Box
The red coloured coaches are called Linke Hoffman coaches. These are manufactured in Germany. These were imported by India in the year 2000. Now they are manufactured in Kapurthala, Punjab. These containers are made of aluminium and hence are lighter than other containers. These coaches are used in premium trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express.

Green Train
These Garib Raths are used in trains. These colorful coaches do not have any special significance. The coaches were painted with this color to make the trains look different. Sometimes you also get to see paintings on them.

Blue color
The most common color of trains in India is blue. These coaches are installed in most trains. These boxes are made of iron. They are designed to run at a speed of 70-140 km per hour. These are manufactured in Integral Coach Factories in Tamil Nadu. This factory works under the Indian Railways. Blue coaches are used in express and superfast trains.
