NEET-UG counselling postponed, students in a dilemma

New Delhi: Amid the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, the admission process for all the candidates who passed the exam may start by the end of this month. Earlier the counseling session was expected to start in the first week of July, although no date was announced by the counseling authority. Now there are reports that this process can be started by the end of this month after the Supreme Court decision on the NEET issue on the 8th. There are massive protests in the country over the NEET paper leak, candidates are demanding cancellation of the exam alleging malpractice.

Since the whole matter is going on in the Supreme Court, the decision to start the counseling process of NEET UG in the first week of July has been postponed. Now this process is likely to start soon by the end of this month. However, the NEET UG counseling authority has not given any explanation as to why it was delayed or why the time was changed. According to earlier reports, the counseling session was scheduled to start on July 6. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court may give its verdict on the NEET paper leak controversy on July 8. Due to which now the dates of NEET UG counseling can be announced only after the eighth decision of the Supreme Court.

The NEET-UG exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to various courses in the medical field such as MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and others. Allegations of paper leak were made in the NEET-UG exam held on May 5 this year. At present, students and candidates are protesting fiercely against the Union Education Ministry and NTA. Amidst the controversy, NTA Director General Subodh Singh was removed, although the candidates demanded that the NEET-UG exam be canceled and held again. The opposition has also joined this demand.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday demanded that all paper leak cases be investigated under the supervision of the Supreme Court and the NEET-UG exam be conducted again. He also alleged that the education mafia is being promoted by disrupting the country's education system. The Union Education Ministry is lying to the Supreme Court that there has been a disturbance in the NEET-UG exam only at a few centers. While the NTA and the central government have said in the Supreme Court in response that NEET-UG cannot be canceled. Amidst this situation, it is likely that the process of college allocation for admission to the students who passed the NEET-UG exam held in May will be started by the end of this month. The date of which can be announced after the Supreme Court's decision on July 8. On one hand the matter is pending in the Supreme Court, on the other hand the students are agitating demanding cancellation of the exam. Amidst this situation, disappointment is increasing among the students.

No notification for counselling has been issued: Centre's clarification

New Delhi: The Health Ministry has clarified amid reports that the counselling session for NEET-UG candidates was scheduled to begin on July 6 but has been postponed. The Health Ministry said that no notification has been issued yet for the dates of counselling for NEET. The process was completed by July 20 last year. Although there is a delay amid controversy, there has been a clarification from the central government on this.
