A large number of candidates are making claims on social media of alleged massive manipulation and discrepancies in OMR sheets and scorecards. Amidst this growing controversy and anger of the students, the National Testing Agency (NTA), the examination conducting body, has clarified its official stand. NTA has said that it is investigating all the complaints received very closely and seriously. However, the agency has given a big statement on the claims being circulated on social media, saying that any discrepancy cannot be confirmed only on the basis of viral posts, as many documents have been found suspicious in the investigation.
Fake OMR sheets are being prepared with AI, NTA warns of legal action
According to the official clarification issued by NTA, during the initial investigation, many such OMR sheets going viral on the internet have come to light which are completely fake or have been prepared by editing with the help of modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The examination agency has strongly appealed to the students and parents to avoid falling prey to any kind of misleading claims and fake documents. NTA has warned in a strict tone that only the original OMR sheet will be accepted for the scrutiny process. If any complainant is found submitting fake or AI-generated OMR sheet during investigation, strict legal action will be taken against him under fraud and forgery.

Even though NTA is terming the claims as fake, many candidates who took the exam are continuously raising concerns about the huge difference between the OMR sheets available on the official portal and the answers marked by them in the exam hall along with the evidence. The serious allegation of the candidate is that the pattern of filling the bubbles (circles) in his OMR sheet uploaded on the NTA portal is not exactly the same as the one he had filled during the examination. According to Ibtisham, the 12 difficult questions which he had deliberately left blank without any answer in the examination hall are visible as fully solved (marked) in the uploaded OMR sheet, which has affected his entire scorecard.

After new complaints like Ibtisham Nassar’s continue to surface, the atmosphere of distrust among parents and coaching operators regarding the transparency of the medical entrance examination has deepened. Students say that until NTA makes public the impartial investigation report of each complaint, this impasse does not seem to end. Experts are of the opinion that students who are finding discrepancies in their OMR sheets should officially lodge a challenge with the original documents on the Grievance Portal of NTA and seek advice from legal experts if needed. At present, the Internal Investigation Committee of NTA is investigating the technical aspects of all these cases so that the situation can become completely clear in the coming days.
