Amidst the ongoing massive protests across the country regarding alleged rigging in the NEET exam, a big news has come out from Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. As soon as the news of the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan spread, thousands of students and protesters gathered there celebrated vigorously. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke, while addressing the students on this occasion, termed it a historic victory of democracy and youth power. He dedicated this success to those innocent students who lost their lives under the immense stress of NEET controversy and paper leak.
‘The world bends, we need someone to bend it’
While addressing the excited supporters from the stage of Jantar Mantar, Deepke took a sharp dig at the government. He said that earlier people used to say that no minister resigns in this government, but the solidarity of the students has proved that if there is someone to bend, the world bends and we have done it. He clarified that we are cockroaches and are not going to leave from here so soon. In a democracy, it is most important to learn to speak up for your rights instead of being afraid. After his enthusiastic speech, the enthusiasm of the students present there increased even more.
CJP increased the pressure and placed 2 more big demands
After the first and biggest demand of resignation of the Education Minister has been fulfilled, CJP has now intensified the pressure on the government regarding its remaining demands. The party has clarified that financial compensation of Rs 1 crore each should be immediately given to the families of all the deceased students who committed suicide due to the NEET controversy. Along with this, all the police cases registered against the protesting students and youth leaders during this ongoing movement across the country should be withdrawn unconditionally. CJP has also announced on its official social media handle that until both these demands are met, their struggle will continue on the streets.
Bihar bandh showed severe effect
While on one hand the strategy of celebration and pressure is going on in Delhi, on the other hand the ‘Bihar Bandh’ called in protest against NEET rigging has taken a very extreme form. From Patna, Bhagalpur to Aurangabad, huge anger of students has erupted on the streets. Incidents of violent demonstrations, stone pelting and arson have been reported at many places, after which the administration has deployed heavy police force to control the situation and many protesters have also been detained.
