A case has come to light from Kishanganj district of Bihar which has raised serious questions on the functioning of the police administration and the investigation process. Police registered an FIR during the protest against NEET question paper leak last week in Bahadurganj area of the district. It is alleged that in this case, the name of a young man named Mohammad Sadakat has also been included as an accused, whereas he has not been in India for the last four months and is studying or working in Russia.
Mohammad Sadakat raised demand for fair investigation by releasing video
Kishanganj resident Mohammad Sadakat has made a video from Russia and shared it on social media, which is now going viral. In the video, Sadakat expressed surprise over his name being registered in the FIR and said that when he has been continuously residing in Russia for the last 4 months, how can he participate in the anti-NEET protest in Bahadurganj? He has appealed to the Bihar administration and higher officials to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter and immediately remove his name from the FIR.
Kishanganj SP Hari Mohan Shukla’s statement on the matter
When news agency PTI contacted Kishanganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Hari Mohan Shukla on Sadaqat’s viral video and this entire matter, he refrained from directly confirming or denying the claim. SP Hari Mohan Shukla said that those who have any complaint or objection of any kind related to the NEET protests can directly contact the police administration for redressal of their grievances.
Big decision of Bihar government: All cases registered against protesters withdrawn
Amidst this controversy, Bihar government has made a very important announcement regarding the NEET paper leak protests. According to the official notification issued by the state home department, all registered FIRs, complaints and show-cause notices related to incidents that occurred before 6:00 am on July 26 are being withdrawn.
The government has also clarified that all those detained or sent to jail during the NEET protests will be released with immediate effect. It is noteworthy that during the Bihar Bandh held last week, the police had detained a total of 694 people, out of which almost half were minor students.
