Amidst the continuous protests by students in the capital Delhi regarding rigging in competitive examinations, the Central Government has taken the biggest step so far towards making the country’s examination system leak-proof and transparent. Amid serious questions being raised on the National Testing Agency (NTA) after the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy, 47 officers were dismissed from service Is.
According to highly placed sources of the Education Ministry, along with departmental action, a legal case can also be registered against some of the dismissed officers. Just a day before this, the government had transferred two senior secretaries of the Education Ministry in an administrative reshuffle.
NTA will be completely reorganized
According to official sources, this action is part of fixing accountability within NTA and complete reorganization of the agency. In recent times, due to irregularities in many national level examinations, there was a huge crisis on the credibility of the examination agency. The government is preparing to implement the entire plan of restructuring of NTA by next month so that the confidence of students and parents can be restored.
The screws are going to be tightened on external agencies (Outsourcing System)
The biggest focus of improving the functioning of NTA is its outsourcing model has to be changed. At present, many important tasks ranging from conducting examinations, printing question papers to data management are done through external private agencies.
Sources say that the government is going to make major changes in this entire outsourcing process on the basis of the recommendations of an expert committee. Under the new system, strict administrative and technical monitoring will be maintained on external agencies so that there is no scope for burglary in future.
Emphasis on creating a completely ‘leak-proof’ examination system
In view of the widespread anger across the country and the protests by students, the Central Government is now incorporating many stringent security protocols at both the technical and administrative levels. This entire exercise is being done to increase transparency, efficiency and accountability in NTA.
It is noteworthy that National Testing Agency (NTA) currently conducts 15 to 20 important national level entrance and recruitment examinations including JEE Main, NEET, CUET across the country. The government believes that these strict decisions will make the examination system more secure and ensure fairness.
