A major twist has come to light in the NEET-UG 2024 exam controversy. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given a complete clean chit to Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanjeev Mukhiya, considered the prime suspect in this case. The investigating agency clearly says that even after months of intensive investigation, not a single concrete evidence has been found against Sanjeev Mukhiya for his involvement in the conspiracy to steal the paper or distribute it. CBI has also rejected all the rumors circulating on social media, in which it was being claimed that the accused was being deliberately protected.
Why was Sanjeev Mukhiya’s name included in the initial FIR?
At the beginning of the case, Bihar Police had registered an FIR of question paper theft. Sanjeev Mukhiya’s name had appeared in paper leak cases of some other competitive examinations in the past, based on this suspicion the police had also included his name in the initial FIR of NEET-UG. Later, when the investigation was handed over to CBI, the agency deeply investigated the entire racket, those who stole the question paper and the gang that profited from it.
Main points of investigation: CBI has so far filed several charge sheets against 45 accused in the special court of Patna in this entire case, but Sanjeev Mukhiya’s name is not included in them.
Remand interrogation and CBI’s official stance
CBI had taken Sanjeev Mukhiya on police remand after he was arrested by Bihar Police in other cases during the absconding. Even after hours of interrogation, examining call details and sifting through technical evidence, the agency could not find any criminal link against him. According to CBI, even after getting bail in the NEET case, he remained in judicial custody due to other cases of Bihar Police. The agency made it clear that the entire conspiracy has been exposed and action has been taken against the main criminals, hence the claim of saving Sanjeev Mukhiya is completely false and misleading.
