Gumla, 25 June (HS). 1500 mine trucks engaged in transporting minerals in more than half a dozen bauxite mines went on strike from Monday. Hence, the transportation of bauxite from the mines came to a halt. The decision to stop the operation of bauxite trucks was taken by various bauxite truck owner associations. A meeting was organized in Lohardaga under the chairmanship of the patron of the owner association and former Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu and in the same meeting, all the officials of the truck owner association and truck owners decided not to send their trucks to the bauxite mines.
The condition of bauxite trucks has been very pathetic for the past several months. In the stipulated fortnight of 15 days, only two trips of trucks are allowed for loading. If a bauxite truck gets two trips in 15 days, then in such a situation even the expenses incurred on the driver, co-driver, and papers of the truck cannot be recovered. In such a situation, who would like to make a loss-making deal and finally the owners considered it appropriate to stop the operation of trucks. Let us tell you that the wheels of trucks running in all the bauxite mines like Gurdari, Amtipani, New Amtipani, Kujam, Serendag, Bimrala, Bhaisbathan etc. have stopped.
The lives of people living in mining areas are highly dependent on mines and in such a case, they will face unemployment. Not only this, the work of loading bauxite in a truck is done by three to four workers. In such a case, 9 thousand families will be directly affected including the drivers, co-drivers and loading labour of 1500 trucks. While its direct impact will be seen on those who repair punctures of trucks, parts shops and petrol pumps.
