Varanasi, 24 October (Hindustan Reporter). The North Eastern Railway Administration conducted a full scale mock drill on Thursday to test the safety of huge crowd gathering in trains on the upcoming festivals of Diwali, Dala Chhath and rescue operations in case of any adverse circumstances. In the sick line of Banaras Coaching Depot Yard, 11 NDRF and Railway Police personnel created a scene of fire in the train and demonstrated alertness in extinguishing the fire after protecting the passengers. The efficiency of quick response system and resources was examined by conducting mock drills. Deputy Commandant of 11th Battalion of NDRF, Ram Bhavan Singh and officers associated with the security department of Varanasi Railway Division were also present in the mock drill.
Before this, on Wednesday last, a safety meeting was held in Bharatendu meeting room of Varanasi Divisional Railway Office. Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operation) Rajesh Kumar Singh, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infra) RL Yadav, Chief Medical Superintendent A.J Chaudhuri, Senior Divisional Safety Officer Balendra Pal, Senior Divisional Engineer Rakesh Ranjan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Sheikh Rehman. Security was discussed in the presence of other officers. After this, NDRF Deputy Commandant Ram Bhavan Singh, through a power point presentation, gave a quick update on the railway accidents occurring under adverse circumstances such as derailment, collision or fire on bridge, tunnel, river bridge, earthquake or flood. Told about the process of reducing the impact of the incident by responding, taking immediate action for relief and rescue and saving maximum lives.
