BJP's numbers in Rajya Sabha: Not only in Lok Sabha, but also in Rajya Sabha, the strength of BJP and NDA has reduced. Four nominated members of BJP retired on Saturday. With this, BJP's strength in Rajya Sabha has reduced to 86 and NDA's strength has come down to 101. With 19 seats vacant, the current number of members in Rajya Sabha is 226. Now the question is whether BJP's difficulties will increase in Rajya Sabha, will NDA suffer due to the reduction in numbers? Does NDA have enough numbers to pass important laws or not?
The answer to these questions is that the BJP is still in a strong position. The NDA still has the numbers to pass crucial legislation in the upcoming budget session with the support of seven non-political nominated members, 2 independents and allies like the AIADMK and YSRCP. But the vacancies under the nominated category need to be filled at the earliest to reduce dependence on others.

Who retired?
According to reports, Rajya Sabha MPs Rakesh Sinha, Ram Shakal, Sonal Mansingh and Mahesh Jethmalani are nominated members. All of them retired on Saturday. After being nominated to the Rajya Sabha, they formally aligned themselves with the BJP. Another Rajya Sabha member in the nominated category is Ghulam Ali, who is from the BJP. He will retire in September 2028.
How many members are nominated?
The President nominates 12 members to the Rajya Sabha on the recommendation of the government. In the current House, seven of them identify themselves as apolitical (not part of the BJP), but such members always support the government in passing laws.
How many seats are vacant?
There are 19 vacant seats in the Rajya Sabha. Out of these 11 seats, 10 were vacant due to the Lok Sabha elections last month. When one seat was vacant due to the resignation of Bharat Rashtra Samiti member K. Keshav Rao. Keshav Rao later joined the Congress.
How much will NDA benefit?
In the elections to be held on these 11 seats in the coming months, eight seats are likely to go to NDA and three seats to All India Alliance. Congress will get one seat from Telangana, which will increase the party's strength in Rajya Sabha to 27. Congress needs these two more seats to retain the opposition position in Rajya Sabha. So Congress's voice will be louder in Rajya Sabha. However, neither BJP nor NDA will face much difficulty in passing this bill in the next budget session in Rajya Sabha.
