NCP will also field candidates, discussion on possibility of alliance

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced to field its candidates in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Praful Patel said on Thursday that NCP has been contesting elections in Delhi for the last 25 years and will contest this time too. However, no decision has been taken yet on the number of seats. Patel also clarified that the party will hold talks with the NDA regarding an alliance, but if no agreement is reached, the NCP will contest the elections alone.

Target on Aam Aadmi Party’s rule

Praful Patel made a strong attack on the 15-year rule of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi. He said:

“The people of Delhi are fed up with the AAP government. It is not happy to see Lutyens’ Delhi, because the condition of the common man, in whose name the party was formed, is worse. Go to the mohallas, slums and colonies and see that no work has been done there. “People want change now.”

NCP’s strategy in elections

NCP also hinted at its election strategy:

• Number of seats:
  • Patel said that NCP will contest elections not on all seats, but on selected seats.
  • “Our account will open and the performance will be good.”
• Possibility of alliance:
  • NCP will hold talks on alliance with NDA.
  • Patel said:
    

    “If there is no alliance, we are ready to contest the elections alone.”

Statement on Maharashtra’s Ladki Behan Scheme

Patel reacted to the Mahila Samman Yojana of the AAP government in Delhi and gave the example of Maharashtra’s Ladki Behan Yojana.

• He said:
  

  “Our scheme in Maharashtra empowered 2.5 crore women. This amount was not a gift, but a step to empower them.”

• Patel believes that such efforts to empower women economically help in improving their condition.

Parliament deadlock and attack on Congress

Praful Patel also took aim at the ongoing deadlock in Parliament and the issues raised by the Congress:

• “Congress is repeatedly raising the issue of Adani.”
  • He said that the issues raised by Congress are baseless.
  • “Tell people the truth on the Adani case. Just taking names does not appeal to the public.”
• Giving the example of Maharashtra elections, he said that the public has rejected these issues of Congress.
