Nayanthara never asked for 5 crores… Chandramukhi film crew told!

Nayanthara’s documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, was released on Netflix in November 2024. There is a confrontation between Dhanush and Nayanthara because I have used a 3 second scene from the movie Naam Rowdyyan. However, another controversy has arisen on this issue.

In an interview on a YouTube channel, actor Chitra Lakshmanan expressed her displeasure over the inclusion of some scenes of Chandramukhi in Nayanthara’s documentary without the permission of the filmmakers. This has given rise to a new controversy.

Nayanthara starred opposite Rajinikanth in the 2005 film Chandramukhi. Nayanthara used scenes from that film in her documentary without permission. Information spread on social media that Chandramukhi film crew has asked for a compensation of Rs 5 crore from Nayanthara.

However, the makers of Chandramukhi have said that they will not take any legal action against Nayanthara. He has also rejected the report that he has asked for a compensation of Rs 5 crore. He has also given permission to use the footage in the documentary.

Earlier, actor Dhanush had filed a case against Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Sivan for using some clips of Naam Rowdithan. Dhanush has sent a notice demanding damages of Rs 10 crore for using the three-second video.

The hearing of this case took place in Madras High Court on 27 November 2024. Nayanthara’s lawyer who appeared then said that she had not violated the copyright law. He said that the footage used in the documentary was in his personal storage and not owned by Dhanush’s company.
