23 Naxalites surrendered in Dantewada
According to PTI report, on Monday, 23 Naxalites, including seven women Naxalites, surrendered before the security forces in Naxal-affected Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. Police officials said that the surrendered Naxalites were active in Bhairamgarh Area Committee. He said that the Naxalites are impressed by the rehabilitation campaign 'Lone Varatu' of the police and are disappointed with the hollow ideology of the Maoists.
Police officials said the Maoists are accused of digging up roads, cutting trees to block roads and putting up posters and banners during the strike called by Naxalites. He said that the surrendered Naxalites will be provided facilities as per the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government.
Along with this, a total of 761 Naxalites, including 177 convicted Naxalites, have so far surrendered before the security forces under the police's 'Lone Varatu' (return to their home/village) campaign launched in June 2020, officials said. Earlier, on 24th of this month, 18 Naxalites, including three women Naxalites, had surrendered before the security forces in the district.
