Nawa Bandar fisherman dies in Pakistan jail, family cries as soon as body reaches home after 37 days

Gir Somnath: A fisherman from Nava Bandar of Una taluka of Gir Somnath district, who was imprisoned in Pakistan jail for the last three years, died of cardiac arrest on September 5. After which today, after 37 days, when the body of the fisherman reached his mother's home village, a wave of mourning spread in the New Port area due to the mournful cries of the family members.

According to the details received in this regard, Suresh Nathu Solanki (45), a native of Nava Bandar, had gone to the sea for fishing in the boat Akash Nancy of Madhubhai Kotia of Porbandar on 21 April 2021. Where Pakistan Marines had kidnapped him.

After which Suresh Solanki was lodged in Islamabad jail. Where he died on September 5 due to cardiac arrest. 37 days after the death of Suresh Solanki, his body was brought from Islamabad to Wagah Border. From where his mortal remains reached New Bandar this morning via plane to Amritsar and then by road to Ahmedabad. As soon as Suresh Solanki's body reached Nawa Bandar, the family was in a bad state, crying.

In this regard, social activist Balubhai Socha thanked the Pakistani authorities for sending the body of Suresh Solanki to his motherland. Along with this, he complained that at present about 211 of our fishermen are serving their sentence in Pakistani jails from 2022. Some of them are suffering from serious illness, whose families are worried here. When External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is going to Pakistan in the coming days, he should demand the release of the fishermen.
