Mumbai resident Kamya Karthikeyan has become the youngest Indian to conquer the world's highest peak Mount Everest. She achieved this feat at the age of 16. Kamya, the daughter of an Indian Navy officer, is a class 12 student. Her father Commander S Karthikeyan is an officer in the Indian Navy.
This father-daughter duo successfully climbed Mount Everest (8849 m) from Nepal on 20 May 2024. Kamya has successfully climbed the six highest peaks of the seven continents. Her goal is to climb Mount Vinson Massif in Antarctica in December this year to become the youngest girl to complete the challenge of conquering the seven highest peaks of the world.
The Navy issued a statement saying that after this achievement, she has become the second youngest girl in the world and the second youngest girl from Nepal to climb the world's highest peak and the first youngest woman mountaineer from Nepal to conquer Everest. He said that with this, Kamya has completed six milestones in her mission to climb the highest peak of all 7 continents. Now her goal is to climb Mount Vinson Massif in Antarctica this December, so that she can become the youngest girl to complete the '7 Summits Challenge'.
