Sports Authority of Gujarat and Sports Journalists Association of Gujarat felicitated emerging athletes, eminent players and coaches of Gujarat on National Sports Day at Rajpath Club.
Former Sports Minister Narhari Amin, Indian Olympic Committee Vice President Ajay Patel, SAG Director General R.S. Neema and Information Director K.L. Bachani were present and presented mementos and cheques to the award winners. Chess Grandmaster Tejas Bakre was given the Life Time Achievement Award.
Emerging sportspersons include Aradhana Patel (basketball), Mirant Italia (basketball), Jalap Prajapati (fencing), Vivan Shah (chess), Jansi Kanabar (tennis), Bakhtiaruddin Malek (shooting), Rudra Patel (cricket) and Shiny Gomes (para-deaf) including table tennis). Apart from this, Apurva Biswas (athletics) and Varanjagwala (volleyball) were given the Best Coach award. Pramesh Modi (tennis), David Colaco (basketball), Anthony Joseph, who have served as coaches continuously in sports, were honored as Legends of Football and office bearers of various associations were honored with moments.
