National Space Day organized at NIT Raipur | News India

Raipur, 23 August (HS). A special function was organized today on Friday at the National Institute of Technology Raipur to commemorate National Space Day. Institute Director Dr. NV Ramana Rao, Dean (Student Welfare) Dr. Nitin Jain, other faculty members and students were present in the program. The program was successfully organized under the guidance of Aviation Club Faculty Incharge Dr. NV Swaminaidu.

The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. Swami Naidu and he described the significance of National Space Day. On this occasion, the Director in his speech highlighted the significance of National Space Day and its theme “Touching Lives While Touching the Moon”. He explained how space technology plays an important role in our daily lives. He said that today India holds a special place in the whole world in space technology and India's space technology can solve any space-related challenge. Today India's space technology is not only capable of accurately predicting the weather but can also study the climate of other planets.

After this, an online speaker session was organized, the speaker of which was ISRO scientist Mr. Abhijit Kibe. He told about the work being done as an engineer in ISRO in the Solid Propulsion and Mechanical Integration Area of ​​the GSLV project. He also gave detailed information about the Gaganyaan program and also gave a video presentation based on it. Kibe gave a video presentation on the story behind National Space Day and its importance as well as the achievements of ISRO since its formation till now.

Kibe also gave a presentation on the Indian Space Human Program, in which he discussed various aspects such as space infrastructure, space transportation, space applications, human space flight, and capacity building. He also spoke on the first Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma and the “Intercosmos” program between India-Soviet Union. In addition, the global human space flight scenario, which includes LEO missions, lunar missions, and space stations, was also highlighted. Kibe also spoke about the hazards of human space flight, such as space radiation, distance from Earth, altered gravity, and the effects of isolation and confinement. He also discussed the effects on the human body during space travel and how the transition from space to human spaceflight is changing.

Next, team Spacenovas presented the idea of ​​space exploration through the project “CanSat Mechanisms”. This presentation generated more interest towards space exploration among the students. Finally, a quiz competition titled “Bharat in Space: Exploring India’s Space Program” was organized in which questions were asked about the missions of India’s space program from past to present. Students participated enthusiastically in this competition. Rishabh Raj came first in the competition, Aryan came second and Ishaan Dahriya came third. Apart from this, a poster exhibition showcasing India’s space achievements was also organized in the institute campus.

Earlier in the morning, the first National Space Day celebration was webcasted live from Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi at the Institute in which Her Excellency President Draupadi Murmu addressed the gathering. Institute Director Dr. NV Ramana Rao, Dean (Student Welfare) Dr. Nitin Jain, Associate Dean (Student Welfare) Dr. M.K. Prasad, Aviation Club Faculty Incharge Dr. NV Swaminaidu, other faculty members, staff and students were present in the live telecast program.
