Jammu, August 18 (HS). Natarang's latest theatrical presentation 'Topiyan' has made a significant impact as part of its weekly 'Sunday Theatre' series at the studio. Written by Mani Madhukar and directed by Neeraj Kant, the play is a scathing political satire that dives into the murky world of power politics and presents a critique of politicians who change their allegiances and appearances like chameleons to remain in power.

'Topiyan' is a timely and poignant commentary on the contemporary political landscape where politicians are portrayed as masters of disguise who are adept at manipulating public perception to suit their purposes. The play explores the theme of political hypocrisy through the story of two neighbours who want to reform the political landscape but repeatedly encounter the same opportunist who appears before them in a different guise each time.

In their search for change, the neighbours meet a variety of characters, each representing a different political ideology. However, they soon discover that these supposed alternatives are merely the same person in new clothes and presenting new manifestos. The revelation that this person has been deceiving them all along underlines the play's critique of political opportunism and the superficial nature of political promises.

'Topiyan' was praised not only for its sharp satire but also for the impressive performances of Natarang's young cast who tackled the challenging script with enthusiasm and skill. The play effectively highlights the persistent issue of political deception and is a testament to Natarang's commitment to presenting thought-provoking and relevant theatre.
