Indo-US Space Mission : India has selected its prime astronaut for the space mission. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla from India will be the main astronaut of this mission. While Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair has been selected as backup. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has selected the youngest person as the prime astronaut to fly on the India-US mission to the International Space Station (ISS). Shukla has recently got promotion in the Indian Air Force. The final approval of these crew members will be from the Multilateral Crew Operations Panel (MCOP).
Who is Shubhanshu Shukla?
Born on 10 October 1985 in Lucknow, Shubhanshu Shukla did his early education from CMS Aliganj. He is currently a Wing Commander in the Air Force. His mother Asha Shukla is a housewife.
Inducted into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in 2006
Shubhanshu Shukla was appointed in the Air Force after passing out from the National Defense Academy (NDA). On June 17, 2006, he was appointed in the fighter branch of the Air Force. Currently, he is working as a fighter combat leader and test pilot. He is adept at traveling to the heights of the sky. He has 2000 hours of flying experience. According to the Army spokesperson, he is adept at flying Jaguar, Dornier, AN-32, MKI, SU-30 and MiG-21 to MiG-29.

Group Captain Angad Pratap, who was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on 18 December 2004 after accumulating at the National Defence Academy, hails from Prayagraj district. He has 2000 hours of flying experience. He is adept at flying Sukhoi-30, MiG-21, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier, AN-32 and other fighter aircraft.
Four Indian Air Force officers undergo training in Russia
The four Air Force officers selected for the mission have undergone special training at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Moscow, Russia. They had to undergo complex training including weightlessness, deep water pressure. These officers were trained between February 2020 and March 2021.
