NASA sends Moon mission to Moon's south pole in 52 years – News India Live

American space agency NASA has once again started its lunar mission after 52 years. Under this mission, on January 15, SpaceX launched the Falcon-9 rocket carrying the moon lander. This rocket successfully launched the Odysseus lander into Earth's orbit. NASA technology has been used in the rocket. The agency hopes that this mission will pave the way for a human mission in 2026.

A private company built a moon lander

Approximately 41 minutes after the Falcon-9 rocket launch, the Moon lander's engines will restart, accelerating the Moon lander to carry Odysseus toward the Moon. SpaceX, the organization that launched the lander from its rocket, has shared information about this on Twitter. NASA is going to send a private company's moon lander to the moon. This lander has been manufactured by Intuitive Machine Company. The name of the lander is Odysseus Lander.

Launched on 15th February instead of 15th

According to SpaceX, the Odysseus lander has been named IM-1. The SpaceX rocket was scheduled to launch on February 14, but could not launch due to technical difficulties. Today on January 15, the Falcon-9 rocket was successfully launched. So far all systems are working properly. Launch information is provided from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. If all goes well, the IM-1 lander will land on the south pole of the Moon on 22 February 2024.

How many days is NASA's moon mission?

NASA's Moon mission is for a total of 16 days. After landing, IM-1 lander will remain active on the Moon for 7 days and will provide necessary information to NASA. NASA and the IM company want the lander to land near the Malapert Crater on the south pole of the Moon. If everything goes well, the IM-1 lander will land on the lunar surface after 9 days. This expedition is for a total of two weeks because after this there will be darkness over the South Pole. The American space agency NASA had earlier launched a lunar mission named Apollo-17 in the year 1972.
