NASA has only 18 days, will Sunita-Wilmore return from space

NASA has not given any date for the return of the astronauts

On June 5, both astronauts went into space from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Their mission was to test the first manned flight of the Boeing Starliner. The spacecraft successfully connected with the ISS. However, in the meantime, 5 out of 28 thrusters stopped working. Engineers discovered five small helium leaks in the spacecraft's service module. Due to which the Boeing Starliner could not undock and return to Earth. NASA and Boeing engineers are engaged in solving this problem. However, NASA has not yet set any date for return. The spacecraft's thrusters and helium system are important for return. If there is any malfunction, it can pose a danger to the astronauts.

Crew-9 mission to be launched before August 18

The Crew-9 mission to the ISS is scheduled to launch soon. The Starliner will first have to be removed from the docking port to connect to its space station. This further complicates the situation. The Crew-9 mission will be launched before August 18. SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft will carry astronauts Jenna Cardman, Nick Hague and Stephanie Wilson, as well as Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov. If the Starliner remains inactive, NASA will have to think of a new way to bring Williams and Wilmore back to Earth. It is possible that the SpaceX Dragon capsule will be used. It is worth noting that the space station has 6 docking ports, which NASA can use.
