Hisar, 16 May (Hissar). Courtesy of the Sports Directorate of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, a two-day inter-departmental basketball competition was concluded on Thursday at the Maharana Pratap Stadium of the University. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi was present as the chief guest of the closing ceremony.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi introduced the players. In his address, he said that this is a great effort of the Sports Directorate. Sports provide all-round development of students. While doing well can brighten a player's future, only participating can keep the body healthy. Sports also develop leadership abilities along with discipline.
Dean of Sports Directorate Prof. Dalbir Singh said that in this competition, four teams from different departments of the university participated in the boys' category and in the girls' category, UTD team and a guest team participated. The final match of the boys' category was between Team 'A' and Team 'D'. Team A defeated Team D in this match. In the final match in the girls category, UTD team was victorious in the girls category.
On this occasion, Sports Director Dr. SB Luthra, Assistant Sports Director Dr. Mrinalini Nehra, Kabaddi coach Suresh Kumar, football coach Vinod Kumar, basketball coach Ajay Lamba, archery coach Sandeep Kumar and cricket coach Vikas Kumar were present.
