Lucknow, 08 July (HS). Uttar Pradesh's Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes Welfare and Disabled Empowerment Narendra Kashyap held a departmental review meeting in his office at the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. In this meeting, the minister directed that the schools run for the disabled should be inspected regularly.
He said that the process of providing scholarships to students of backward classes should be ensured in a timely manner. He also directed to dispose of the applications under the marriage grant scheme on priority basis and provide the benefits of the scheme to the beneficiaries soon.
The minister directed to take immediate necessary action to fill the vacant posts in the departments quickly. The vacancies which are to be filled through other departments should be filled through correspondence. He said that the Chief Minister has given instructions to fill the vacant posts in the departments in a time bound manner and any kind of negligence or laxity in this process will not be tolerated.
The minister also directed that high quality institutes should be selected for computer training conducted for youth of backward classes, so that the quality of training can be improved and youth can get better employment and self-employment opportunities. Apart from this, he directed to prepare data on self-employment or employment obtained by the youth who received computer training, so that the effectiveness of the scheme can be evaluated.
The Minister for Disabled reviewed in detail the various schemes being run for the disabled. He directed to widely publicise the schemes like disabled pension, leprosy pension, marriage incentive, shop construction, artificial limbs and assistive devices distribution, so that more and more eligible disabled people can avail the benefits of these schemes.
He also said that skill training should be provided to the disabled to make them skilled so that they can get better employment and self-employment opportunities. Along with this, employment fairs should be organized for the disabled. State funds should be used for organizing special fairs.
