New Delhi. Trial runs are going on at a fast pace between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar stations are expected to open soon.

Once operational, the length of the RRTS corridor will increase from 42 km to 54 km, enabling NaMo Bharat train services to provide quick travel between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South in just 40-45 minutes.

The New Ashok Nagar station located near Noida will enhance connectivity for commuters traveling to and from both Delhi and Noida. Designed as a multi-modal transport hub, this RRTS station will be connected to the Blue Line of Delhi Metro. A 90 meter long foot overbridge (FOB) is being built to connect the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station to the Ashok Nagar metro station.

This connection will allow passengers to move seamlessly between the two modes of transport, reducing congestion and making travel easier, especially for women, the elderly and families with children or luggage. Additionally, two parking areas with a combined capacity of 600 vehicles will be provided, including spaces for cars, motorcycles and bicycles.

Connectivity to metro will also be easy

The first 10 minutes of parking will be free, facilitating passengers using the “pick and drop” service. Meanwhile, the underground Anand Vihar RRTS station is set to become one of the busiest transit hubs on the corridor. It will be connected to two metro lines (blue and pink), Anand Vihar railway station and two ISBTs.

One towards Delhi and the other towards Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh. This will ensure more foot traffic every day. NCRTC is working to seamlessly integrate the RRTS station with these modes of transport, making it a model for multi-modal connectivity. To further improve access, three new bridges have been built over the Ghazipur drain.

One for vehicle entry, one for vehicle exit and one for pedestrian traffic, to ensure smooth access to the station. The construction work of the station is nearing completion and final touches are being given.

With the completion of both the stations, New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar, it is expected to be operational by January 2025, improving connectivity for passengers between Meerut and Noida.

The entire RRTS corridor, which is expected to be completed by June 2025, will reduce the travel time between Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut’s Modipuram to less than an hour.
