Udaipur, 23 February (HS). Now food stalls running at Sukhadia Circle and Fatehsagar in Udaipur will have to put their stickers on disposable cups. Dress code will be enforced for cart vendors and there will be a ban on leveling hills for plating.
These important decisions were taken on Friday in the meeting of the District Environment Committee held in the auditorium of the District Collectorate under the chairmanship of District Collector Arvind Poswal. In the meeting, Committee Member Secretary Deputy Forest Conservator North Ajay Chittaura put forward a point-wise agenda in the meeting, after discussing which decisions were taken. The District Collector said that to solve the problem of disposable cup waste at Sukhadia Circle and Fatehsagar, it is necessary to identify those who spread the waste. For this, he expressed the need to force every stall operator to paste their stickers on disposable cups. In this regard, he directed the Municipal Corporation Commissioner to issue orders to all stall operators and ban them from putting stickers, so that effective monitoring of those who spread garbage can be done. This will force stall operators to stop their customers from spreading garbage. Apart from this, he was also asked to set a dress code for the food vendors at these places. He held a meeting with the cart operators and gave instructions to take further action on this matter. The decision to place dustbins at tourist places was also taken in the meeting. Apart from this, there was also talk on developing Chavand and other ponds as wetlands.
In the meeting, the District Collector emphasized on promoting e-rickshaws instead of construction works under the National Clean Air Programme. He said that if e-rickshaws are allotted to unemployed youth under the programme, they will get employment and the environment will also be protected.
These days, land businessmen are vigorously doing the work of leveling and plating the hills around the city, which is having an adverse effect on the environment. It was decided in the meeting that a letter should be written to the Udaipur Development Authority to ban the conversion of sloping hills into residential colonies.
