Palamu, 24 July (HS). On 25 July, the draft voter list will be published at all 1796 polling centers in Palamu district. Along with this, a special campaign 'Name Check' will also be run for one hour at these centers. This program will run from 12 noon to 1 pm. District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan gave this information to the journalists in the Collectorate Auditorium on Wednesday.
He said that BLOs will be available at all polling stations with voter lists and Forms 6, 7 and 8 and will assist voters in checking their names. In case of name not being registered in the voter list or any kind of error, fill Form 6 for registration and Form 8 for correction and submit it to the BLO. Or you can also do it online in the relevant manner. The period for receiving claim-objection related forms is fixed till August 9. The last date for execution of the forms has been fixed as August 19 and the date of final publication as August 20, 2024.
The DEO said that in order to vote in any election, it is mandatory for the name of the voter to be registered in the voter list of the respective polling station, however, in the past few elections, such cases have come to light that some voters go to vote with their Photo Voter Identity Card (EPIC), but due to their name not being registered in the voter list, they are deprived of voting.
To ensure that no such incident takes place in the upcoming assembly elections 2024, a 'Naam Chacho' campaign is being conducted through social media to make voters aware. After checking the name in the published draft voter list, if the voter is satisfied, then he will take a selfie with the voter list or voter card and post it on social media with the hashtag 'Naam Chacho', so that other people can also get inspired. If any discrepancy is found in the voter list, then fill the form according to the discrepancy and submit it online or offline. The Deputy Commissioner has also requested the representatives of all political parties to join this campaign.
