News India Live, Digital Desk: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Here a young man committed suicide, but before embracing death, he made a video viral on social media which has created tension in the entire area. In the video, the young man has made serious allegations and said that he was being pressurized for religious conversion and he was being tortured.
What is the whole matter?
The incident took place in a village in Muzaffarnagar, where the body of a youth was found hanging in his house. As soon as the news of the youth’s death was received, there was chaos among the family members. Meanwhile, a video of the young man surfaced, in which he is crying and narrating his ordeal.
Video allegations: The young man has claimed in the video that some people were forcing him to change his religion.
Mental harassment: The youth alleged that if he refused, he and his family were being threatened with death and he was being defamed in the society.
Huge uproar and demand from family members
After the death of the youth and the video going viral, there was anger among the family members and villagers.
Demonstration by placing the dead body: Angry family members started a ruckus demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
Syndicate of conversion: Family members allege that an organized gang is active in the area which converts innocent youth by luring or threatening them.
Police action and security arrangements
Considering the seriousness and communal sensitivity of the matter, the police administration immediately swung into action.
FIR registered: Police have taken possession of the viral video and have registered a case under relevant sections (which may also include the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act) on the complaint of family members.
Investigation team formed: A team has been formed under the leadership of SP City which is investigating the authenticity of the video and the role of the people named in it.
Heavy police force deployed: In view of the tension in the village, PAC and heavy police force have been deployed as a precautionary measure to maintain peace.
What does the law say?
In Uttar Pradesh, converting religion by force or inducement is a serious crime. Under the ‘Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act’, there is a provision of up to 10 years of jail and heavy fine for the culprits. Police are now investigating the mobile numbers and chats from which the youth was receiving threats. Appeal: Suicide is not the solution to any problem.
