A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, where the body of an MBBS student was found hanging under suspicious circumstances in the girls hostel of a reputed medical college. The police arrived on the information of fellow students and hostel management, broke the door, brought down the body, filled the Panchnama and sent it for post-mortem. As soon as the news of the incident spread, mourning and sensation spread throughout the medical college campus. Police searched the student’s room thoroughly, but no suicide note was recovered from the spot, due to which the exact reason behind the suicide is not yet clear.

According to initial information, the deceased was studying MBBS in the medical college and was completing her medical studies by staying in the hostel located in the college campus. Like every day, when she did not come out of her room for a long time in the morning and even when her fellow students knocked on the door, there was no response from inside, then she feared something untoward. The friends immediately informed the hostel warden and the college administration. On receiving information from the administration, the local police force and forensic field unit immediately reached the spot.

When the door of the hostel room was broken in the presence of police officers, everyone was shocked to see the scene inside. The student was hanging from a noose with the help of a fan. Forensic experts immediately sealed the room and collected important evidence like fingerprints, mobile phone, laptop and diary. The police searched every corner of the room thoroughly, but no suicide note or letter was found from the spot.

Officials say that due to non-availability of suicide note, technical evidence is being used to get to the bottom of the case. The police have seized the student’s mobile phone and laptop and sent it to the cyber cell for investigation. Call Details Records (CDR) and social media chats are being examined to find out who she had talked to before the incident and whether she was undergoing any mental pressure or stress.

As soon as information about the incident was received, the police informed the student’s family over phone, after which there was chaos in the family. The crying family members have left for Muzaffarnagar. The police have also started interrogating the college classmates and teachers. Fellow students say that she was very calm in behavior and bright in studies, but for the last few days she seemed to be silent about anything.

The investigating officers are also investigating whether this step was taken due to the stress of studies and upcoming examinations or whether there was some family or personal problem behind it. In view of the increasing cases of depression and mental pressure among students during the difficult medical studies, questions are being raised on the counseling system of the college administration. The police have also made detailed inquiries of the hostel warden regarding regular monitoring of girl students and attendance register.

After inspecting the spot, the area officer and the concerned police station in-charge said that the body has been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem following the legal procedure. The exact time and actual cause of death will be completely clear only after the post mortem report comes.

Police say that further legal action will be taken on the basis of written complaint and statements of the family members. Along with this, the friends and close contacts of the deceased are also being talked to so that the possibility of any kind of harassment, ragging or other dispute can be impartially investigated. At present, the medical college administration has activated additional security and counseling support in the hostels so that the mental health of other students is not negatively impacted by this tragic incident. Muzaffarnagar Police is busy solving this mystery from all angles.
