Musafiri trailer released: Actress Richa Chadha is all set to explore a different aspect of her creative work with ‘Musafiri’, an eight-episode non-fiction series based in Mumbai.
The actress has also ventured into the world of YouTube with the show, which she hosts, writes and produces.
Recently the trailer of this series was released. ‘Musafiri’ will premiere on Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s YouTube channel ‘Full Stop’ from September 25, and a new episode will release every Friday.
The first season will focus entirely on Mumbai and will showcase different aspects of the city beyond its well-known locations and stories. Richa will meet local residents, historians, cultural workers and experts while exploring lesser known parts of the city.
The idea for the series came after Richa entered motherhood, which she said gave her the opportunity to look at familiar things in a new way.
According to the press release, Richa said in a statement, “Becoming a mother has changed the way I look at the world. It makes you curious again, you start questioning things you have taken for granted, seeing familiar things in a completely different light. I asked myself a lot of questions about the city I have been living in for years. Do I really know Mumbai? How much do I really know this city? And one question that stuck with me was… The question was, what should I give in return to the city that has given me so much?
“I have always been curious about history, art, culture and people. I studied Honors in History and grew up in a family where education and curiosity were an integral part of our lives. Musafiri felt like a natural extension of this aspect of me. This is my attempt to visit a city I knew, but from a new perspective,” she added.
The eight-episode series will showcase Mumbai from the perspective of its people, places, history and culture. The show has also been described as an exploration of “people, places and love”.
‘Musafiri’ is Richa and Ali’s second film from Pushing Buttons Studios after ‘Girls Will Be Girls’. ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ received accolades at the Sundance Film Festival, while Richa was honored with the John Cassavetes Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in Los Angeles.
With ‘Musafiri’, the production house is now moving towards non-fiction content. This series will be available on Full Stop from 25th September.
