Mumbai: Mumbai Police raided a hookah parlor in Fort area of South Mumbai late on Tuesday night. During this raid, Bigg Boss winner standup comedian Munwar Farooqui was also seen in this parlor. After this the police took 13 people including Farooqui into custody. After interrogating all of them, the police let them go but registered a case against them and took further action.
Police raided this hookah parlor based on information that tobacco was being used in this hookah parlor. During this action, many people present in the hookah parlor were taken into custody, including Munwar Farooqui. A case has been registered against all these people.
This hookah parlor was being run illegally in the fort. During the raid, police seized Rs 4,400/- in cash and nine hookah pots worth Rs 13,500/-. A case has been registered under various sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.
32-year-old stand-up comedian Farooqui is always surrounded by controversies. Earlier in 2021, Prakaran was accused of hurting religious sentiments after commenting on Hindu deities during a stand-up show and had to spend a month in jail. After this incident, Farooqui announced to leave comedy. Due to massive protests, about 12 of his shows were cancelled.
