Municipal workers of Palamau went on indefinite strike in support of six-point demands, office and cleaning work will be affected | News India

Palamu, 23 August (HS). Municipal workers went on indefinite strike from Friday over six point demands. Workers of Medininagar Municipal Corporation, Vishampur, Chhatarpur, Hussainabad and Hariharganj are also involved in the strike. All the workers were seen protesting in their respective office premises in support of their demands. The strike of workers will have a bad effect on office work as well as cleaning work.

To press for their demands, the employees of Nagar Nigam Medininagar organized a Dharna in the office premises under the banner of Jharkhand Local Bodies Employees Federation. The demands of the employees include regularization of services of daily and honorarium workers working in the body, 100% allocation from the government level for payment of salaries of body employees, all kinds of retirement benefits for those retiring from the body should be paid by the government from its own funds, promotion to higher posts should be given to body employees only, the government should end corruption by paying outsourcing wages at its own level and the government should provide the benefit of life insurance to body employees, etc.

Santosh Kumar, Chief Assistant Dheeraj Kumar, Assistant Jai Govind Mehta, Santosh Kumar Assistant, Vishnu Ram, Vice President, Abhimanyu Mehta, Secretary, Amarendra Kumar Mehta, Treasurer, Pramod Ram, Krishna Ram, Computer Operator Safi Ahmed, Neeraj Kumar, Assistant Vinod Kumar Sao, Suresh Prajapati, Pintu Kumar, Kshamesh Kumar, Ranjit Ram, Manoj Ram, Ankit Kumar, Madan Ram, Dhirendra Kumar, Jai Ram Gupta, Anoop Kumar, Mohd. Ishtyak Shah, Sarita, Maya, Chinta, Kavali, Saro, Paro, Kunti, Kamala, Maroon, Roshila Sanju, Poonam, Anita and others were present in the protest.

Under the banner of Jharkhand Local Bodies Employees Federation, the workers devised a strategy for an indefinite strike on Friday in the Nagar Panchayat premises for their six-point demands. All the workers are on strike under the leadership of President Dinesh Kumar. Dinesh Kumar said that this time there will be a fight to the finish with the government. The Federation had given two years to the government but till now our demands have not been met.

The municipal workers said that in the light of the order of the state cabinet and the Supreme Court, the agitation is being organized for regularization of the services of daily wage earners on one-time contract, to maintain 70% grant and loan given under the establishment head of the Urban Development and Housing Department, to get insurance of 20 lakhs for all regular daily contract workers working in the body in view of their dangerous activities, to implement the old pension scheme, not to make new appointments until the services of all working workers are regularized, to get all the work done at the departmental level instead of NGOs and other demands. The agitation will continue until the government fulfills their demands.

In the protest, Nagar Panchayat accountant Suraj Kumar, secretary Rajan Kumar, treasurer Santosh Kumar, organization minister Ajit Kumar, Pinku Kumar, Sheetal Yadav, Rampratap Kumar, Ganesh Vishwakarma, Kamlesh Kumar, Laxman Ram, Rajendra Oraon, Rajmohan Ram, Anoop Kumar, Kanchan Kumari, Pinky Devi, Lilo Devi, Maheshwari Devi, Rita Devi, Sankuti Devi, Seema Devi, Nirmala Devi, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Ajay Ram, Vinay Oraon and all the workers were present.
