Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation has sent a recovery notice of Rs 1 crore to the organizers of Karan Ojla Show for violating advertising rules. If the management does not deposit this amount within the stipulated time, this amount will be recovered along with penalty and interest.
This action has been taken on the report of the Enforcement Wing and the instructions of Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar. The Enforcement Wing had said that several advertisement hoardings were put up during the live concert of Karan Ojla at Sector-34 Exhibition Ground on December 7.
Their approval was not taken from the Municipal Corporation. After this this notice has been sent. Due to the implementation of Advertisement Control Order-1954 in Chandigarh, no advertisement of any kind can be placed without approval. All types of charges while regulating advertising have also been prescribed in this order.
Advertising fees run into lakhs, so companies save money. This show of Karan Ojla has already been in controversies. Tickets for this show were sold for Rs 4999 to Rs 1.5 lakh. Beer and wine were served. People had to face traffic jams and other problems. The police have also said in their report that this number is much more than 15 thousand.
