Mumbai Police raided a hookah parlor on Tuesday night and arrested stand-up comedian and 'Bigg Boss 17' winner Munawar Farooqui and 13 others. All of them have been released after interrogation. A case has been registered against everyone. An officer involved in the raid at Hotel Sablan Hookah Parlor in Fort area said that the police had received information that tobacco was being consumed in this hookah parlor. After this the police reached there to raid and took 13 people into custody. Munawar Farooqui is also included among these people. Police raided an illegally running hookah parlor and seized Rs 4400 in cash and 9 hookah pots worth Rs 13500. A case has been registered under sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.

After the news of his detention by Mumbai Police came to light, Munawar Farooqui shared a picture of the airport on his Instagram. While sharing the selfie, Munawwar wrote, 'I am traveling even after being tired.' However, this is not the first time that Munawwar's name has been involved in a controversy. In 2021, Munawwar was accused of inciting religious sentiments. He had made controversial comments on Hindu gods and goddesses in one of his standup acts. FIRs were also registered against him in many states. He was also arrested and had to spend 37 days in jail.
