Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) have formed a front against the government on the issue of sexual exploitation of girls in a school in Badlapur in Maharashtra.
Maha Vikas Aghadi had announced Maharashtra Bandh on Saturday but the Bombay High Court put a stay on it. After this, the parties of Maha Vikas Aghadi have started a protest in Pune. Sharad Pawar sat on the protest with party leaders and workers wearing a black band. Supriya Sule also joined him.
During the protest, Sharad Pawar said that not a single day passes in Maharashtra when there is no news of atrocities on women. The government should take this incident seriously. The government is saying that the opposition does politics. Calling it politics shows how insensitive the government is. Supriya Sule said that incidents of atrocities on women are increasing in the state. People have no fear of the police. I condemn the government. Some people say that the people who gathered in Badlapur were from outside. I would say that they were all Indians. I have never seen such an insensitive government. Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly and Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar said that there is no law and order situation in the state. We are protesting against the government.
This incident has tarnished the image of Maharashtra: Sharad Pawar
Sharad Pawar said that the alleged sexual abuse of two KG girls in a school in Badlapur has tarnished Maharashtra's image in the country. Pawar accused the state government of forgetting that the safety of women is its responsibility.
