Mumbai Indians’s embarrassing record in IPL Eliminator, also proved to be laggard against Top-3 teams

One of the most successful teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians (Mi) may have five titles, but when it comes to ‘Eliminator’ matches, their performance has been very disappointing. Mumbai’s track record is considered to be the worst in Eliminator matches in IPL history.

If we look at the data, Mumbai Indians have won only one eliminator match in IPL history so far. He won this victory in the previous season i.e. 2023 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Also, whenever the team played in the eliminator, he had to face defeat.

Not only this, if we talk about the recently ended IPL 2024 season, then the performance of Mumbai Indians also faded against the top teams. The team, captained by Hardik Pandya, failed to win a single match against the top 3 teams of this season – Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

KKR then defeated Mumbai in both the league stage matches. At the same time, they also suffered defeat in their respective matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. The continuous defeat against these top teams further exposed the poor performance of the Mumbai Indians, where they stood at the lowest position in the points table.

These figures show that the performance of Mumbai Indians has not been in accordance with his fame in the pressure knockout matches (especially eliminators) and in front of strong rivals, which is a matter of concern for both team management and fans.
