mumbai rains : The condition of the country's financial capital Mumbai has become very bad due to heavy rains since late night. Life has been disrupted and traffic has also been badly affected. Due to heavy rains, many areas of the city have been flooded. Not only this, the tracks of many major railway stations of Mumbai also got submerged in water, due to which many trains had to be cancelled. Life has been disrupted due to 11 to 12 inches of rain in a span of about 6 hours.
Railways issued a statement
After the rain, Mumbai Railway issued a statement. Many trains of Mumbai division were canceled. The list of canceled trains was also announced. It included about five trains. It includes most of the trains running on Pune-Mumbai route.
Bus routes had to be changed
Apart from this, bus movement was also affected due to heavy rains. Many buses had to be diverted. While suburban and port lines were flooded due to heavy rains, railway traffic was badly affected. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal, Kurla Vikhroli and Bhandup railway stations were affected due to the rain. The rain suddenly took the form of thunder which caused trouble to Mumbaikars.
300 mm rain in 6 hours
Actually, rain started in Mumbai at 1 am last night and in a span of 6 hours, 300 mm (about 11 to 12 inches) of rain fell, causing waterlogging everywhere. According to BMC, low-lying areas are flooded. Heavy rain is still expected. BMC has announced holidays for the first semester in all BMC, government and private schools and colleges under its jurisdiction.
