Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized rupees in a major operation at the Mumbai International Airport. Cocaine worth Rs 9.75 crore was seized. A Brazilian passenger was arrested in this case. This foreign national had swallowed 110 capsules of 975 grams. A large quantity of this drug has been seized.
At present, DRI officials found 77 capsules containing cocaine worth Rs 15 crore from a tourist from Ivory Coast at the airport. He also swallowed this capsule.
DRI officials of Mumbai Zone received information that a person from Brazil was coming to Mumbai Airport with narcotics.
They caught the passenger and interrogated him. Meanwhile, he pleaded guilty to cocaine trafficking. There was no cocaine in the bag, but he swallowed a capsule filled with cocaine.
Therefore the foreign tourist was caught and presented in the court. Where the magistrate ordered him to be admitted to JJ Hospital. Doctors recovered 110 capsules containing 975 grams of cocaine worth Rs 9.75 crore.
He was arrested under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
