New Delhi: Former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni created history on Friday by playing an aggressive unbeaten inning of 28 runs in the 34th match of IPL 2024. At the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, 42-year-old Dhoni scored unbeaten 28 runs in just 9 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.
Dhoni has become the first wicketkeeper batsman to complete 5000 runs in IPL. On the strength of MS Dhoni's innings, CSK scored 176 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. However, MS Dhoni's innings was not enough for CSK and Lucknow Supergiants achieved the target for the loss of two wickets in 19 overs.

MS Dhoni defeated ABD
Mahendra Singh Dhoni achieved another feat during his unbeaten inning of 28 runs. He reached sixth position in terms of scoring most runs in IPL. Dhoni scored 5169 runs in 257 matches. He left AB de Villiers (5162) behind. Dhoni represented teams other than CSK in 30 matches in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

MS Dhoni has become the first player in IPL who has scored more than 500 runs in IPL after the age of 40. The record of scoring most runs in IPL after the age of 40 was earlier in the name of Chris Gayle, who scored 481 runs.
