MPs write to FBI about attacks on Hindus and vandalism of temples in America

Washington: Along with vandalism of temples, attacks on Hindus are also increasing in America. Therefore, concern is spreading among the Hindu community living there. Five US lawmakers have written a letter to the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, asking them to disclose the number of incidents of hate crimes and vandalism of temples against Hindus in the country this year. These MPs include Raja Krishnamurthy, Rao Khanna, Shri Thanedar, Pramila Jayapal and Sami Bera.

It is noteworthy that from the beginning of 2024, slogans in support of the vacancy started being written on the walls outside the Sherawali Temple in California. A few days before that there had been an incident of theft in Shivdurga temple. When Swaminarayan Temple in California was also attacked.

The Bharatiya Janata Party lawmakers wrote in the letter that the Hindu community is concerned, and distressed, about legal action being taken in these bias crimes, questioning whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) should be given equal protection under the law. It is natural to question their desire to stop what is actually happening.
