Another case of monkeypox has been reported in the country. The Kerala government confirmed the case on Wednesday, saying a 38-year-old man who recently returned from the United Arab Emirates has developed symptoms of the infection.

Kerala Health Minister Veena George said a 38-year-old man from Malappuram was tested after returning from the United Arab Emirates, and the report came out positive. In a post on Facebook, George urged people to get treated and report any symptoms related to the disease to the health department. The health minister said the monkeypox patient has been isolated and is being treated as per medical protocols. The first case of monkeypox was confirmed in Delhi nine days ago. The victim traveled to South Africa. A 26-year-old man from Hisar in Haryana was diagnosed with the monkeypox virus and admitted to LNJP Hospital.

The Union Health Ministry had a few days ago described it as a single case that was similar to the 30 cases reported earlier in India in July 2022 and said it was different from the group of ampox identified by the World Health Organization. A young man from Hisar has been confirmed to have the primordial African clade-2 ampox virus.
