Bhopal, August 12 (HS). If you want to do a homestay in a village nestled in the lap of nature away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then there are very beautiful locations in our Madhya Pradesh. A village that was immersed in anonymity till some time ago has now become the “best homestay destination” for homestay aspirants of the country and the state. We are talking about the tourist village Sawarwani of the tribal block Tamia of Chhindwara district, which is quite trending these days. These days, tourists from Madhya Pradesh as well as other states are coming to Sawarwani village, developed with the “homestay” concept of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Board, just to see how enjoyable it is to stay in this village. Here, the tribal girls of the village are working as guides and operators of this homestay.
Public Relations Officer Ghanshyam Sirsam said on Monday that the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board has developed the homestay of this village as a model. Tourists staying in homestays never tire of praising the excellent facilities being provided here. Recently, “homestay facility providers” from Telangana and Chhattisgarh state came to do a case study of the facilities being provided in Sawarwani. Recently, homestay operators from Dhusawani of Chhindwara district came to Sawarwani for a three-day training. Members of Responsible Gram Anchal Paryatan Jagrukta Samiti Dhusawani along with the associate organization Satpura Self Reliant Farmer saw the homestay activity of Sawarwani and took real time feedback from the tourists staying here.
He informed that many exposure groups from Khargone, Chhatarpur, Balaghat, Betul, Narmadapuram and other districts have also visited Sawarwani. They expressed happiness on seeing the homemade food, facilities and other entertainment activities being provided to the home stayers (tourists) here. These exposure groups decided that they will also make the home-stay of their village similar to the Sawarwani model, so that tourism gets promoted and tourists also feel safe.
Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Board's 'Responsible Tourism' concept was successful in showing the Sawarwani model to homestay aspirants. These days many development works are going on in this tribal dominated tourist village. Special attention is being paid to cleanliness in these homestays. A lot of effort is being made to ensure that tourists do not face any inconvenience in reaching and staying here. Tourists are being connected with various recreational activities so that they stay longer. These days all the homestays of Sawarwani are full of tourists.
What's new for tourists here?
Mud houses have been built for homestay amidst the picturesque valleys of nature. Tourists can stay here at the rate of only three thousand rupees per day (with 2 adults and one minor child). Two meals and tea are provided free of cost. At night, tourists are entertained with Shaila folk dance by the local tribal group of the village. There is also Satdhara waterfall in the village. Visiting the hot water pond in the nearby Anhoni village is also a major attraction for tourists.
It is believed that applying the water of this place on the skin cures skin diseases. There is a hill of Mouni Baba near the village. Tourists are also made to trek on it. Tribal girls guide the tourists. A total of 67 home-stays are to be built in Sawarwani. So far seven have been started. These home-stays, which are being run under the 'Safe Tourism Scheme for Women' of MP Tourism Development Board, are getting a good response from the tourists. The home-stay operators here are very excited with the appreciation they are getting from hundreds of tourists.
