MP Rain: Wall collapses amid heavy rain in Datia, 7 dead | News India

7 people died when the wall of an old estate near a house collapsed due to heavy rains in Datia city of Madhya Pradesh. Two people buried under the rubble were rescued in the rescue operation. At present, relief work is going on.

The incident took place in Khalkapura area at around 4 am. A palatial wall near a house collapsed, trapping nine people in the debris. Datia Collector Sandeep Makin said seven people have died and two others have been rescued. As soon as the incident was reported, senior officials reached the spot and started rescue operations.

Rs 4 lakh assistance to the families of the deceased

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the affected families. In view of the heavy rains and floods in the state, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has instructed officers and employees not to go on leave until the situation becomes normal.

The CM has said that despite more rain than expected in the month of September due to the changing cycle of rain, life should remain normal, so necessary precautions should be taken and rescue work should be done in time. People living in low-lying settlements should be alerted in time and shifted to relief camps as needed. Necessary precautions and vigilance should be increased immediately on those bridges and culverts where there is water.

The Chief Minister said that relief will be provided in case of loss of life and animal loss due to heavy rains. The Chief Minister announced assistance of Rs. 4 lakh to everyone in case of loss of life and property and directed immediate payment to the families.

The CM said that wherever people are stranded in flood water, immediate arrangements should be made to airlift them with the help of helicopters. Old dilapidated buildings should be identified and protective arrangements should be made and if necessary, the people living in them should be taken to safe places.
