Bhopal, 27 August (HS). Film actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has been sent a defamation notice by the Kisan Sangharsh Samiti after her statement on the farmers' movement. She has been asked to publicly apologize for her statement within a week. If she does not do so, the committee will file a criminal and civil case against her. The notice also demands financial damages of Rs 2 crore from Kangana.

Kisan Sangharsh Samiti president and former MLA Dr Sunilam sent this notice on Tuesday through his lawyer Guru Dutt Sharma. In the notice sent by registered post, Kisan Sangharsh Samiti has described Kangana's statement as extremely hurtful. This notice has been sent to her Manali address, in which Kisan Sangharsh Samiti president Dr Sunilam has been made a party.

It is worth noting that Kangana Ranaut had recently said in a statement that if our top leadership was not strong, a situation like Bangladesh could have happened in India during the farmers' movement. Everyone saw what happened during the farmers' movement here. How violence was spread in the name of protest. Rapes were happening there, dead bodies were being hanged after killing. When that bill was withdrawn, these rioters were shocked, because their planning was very long. They were controlled in time, otherwise they could have done anything.

The Kisan Sangharsh Samiti associated with the farmers' movement has expressed displeasure over this statement of Kangana Ranaut. A defamation notice has been sent demanding a public apology within a week. The committee says that this statement of Kangana is insulting and objectionable to the farmers and food providers of the country.

The notice states that your statement is highly indecent and objectionable as it humiliates, insults and degrades the farmers and food providers of the country and comes under the category of hate speech. Whereas the United Kisan Morcha ran a completely peaceful, democratic and non-violent movement for 380 days. 750 farmers were also martyred in the movement. Your above statement actually proves to be anti-farmer.
